Daniel – Session IV: King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – Part 2

  1. Overview
    1. Fuel – Thursday night Bible Study specifically designed for people to “fill up” on the Word of God
    2. Key Scriptures
      1. Colossians 3:16 – Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly….
      2. James 1:21 – …receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls
    3. Implanted
      1. Soil is our heart, the Word of God is the seed. As the seed is sown, or implanted in our hearts it will bring forth good, godly fruit
    4. Book of Daniel
      1. Blueprint of prophecy – Essential for understanding end times events
      2. Prophecy – History written in advance
  • Daniel, like all prophecy, given for comfort, warning, and edification
  1. Backdrop – Children of Israel are in captivity; Daniel and his friends are designated as future leaders and set apart to work in the court of King Nebuchadnezzar
  2. Takes place in modern-day Iraq (approx. 53 miles south of Baghdad)

  1. Highlights from last Session
    1. Nebuchadnezzar has a disturbing dream
    2. He calls for his advisors, who all specialize in different areas of the occult
    3. He demands for them to tell him the dream and it’s interpretation
    4. Because they cannot, he orders all of his advisors, including Daniel and his friends, to be executed
    5. Daniel, using great wisdom, sets a time with King Nebuchadnezzar, to tell him the dream and its interpretation
    6. Daniel goes right to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah and asks for prayer support
    7. God reveals the dream to Daniel

  • Necessity of Prayer
    1. 3 Questions
      1. Do my prayers really matter that much?
      2. Can my prayers actually change things?
  • Does God just want me to pray or is it essential that I pray?
  1. Genesis 1:26-28 Man was created to have dominion
  2. God gave man “delegated authority” to rule and subdue the earth
  3. During the fall of Genesis 3, mankind transfers delegated authority
    1. Jesus called Satan the god of this world because authority was given to him by Adam
  4. Jesus took the authority back
  5. Jesus gives the authority to his Body, The Church
  6. We, as followers of Jesus have been given authority to bring His Kingdom into the everyday of this world
  7. We do this through prayer… Prayer is not just important, it is essential!
  8. Daniel’s friends pray, Daniel prays, lives are saved, prophecy happens, promotion happens.
  9. Prayer is the root – results are the fruit

  1. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
    1. The image
      1. Mighty
      2. Extremely bright (shiny)
  • Terrifying
  1. Head of gold
  2. Chest and arms of silver
  3. Middle of bronze
  • Legs of iron
  • Feet partly iron and partly clay (mixture)
  1. Image annihilated by the “stone cut from the mountain”
  2. Stone grows to a mountain and fills the whole earth
  1. Interpretation
    1. Head of gold
      1. Nebuchadnezzar – Babylon
    2. Chest and arms of silver
      1. Medo-Persian Empire – Darius the Mede
  • Abdomen and thighs of bronze
    1. Greek Empire – Alexander the Great
  1. Legs of Iron
    1. Roman Empire – The Caesar’s
  2. Feet – mixture of iron and clay
    1. ??? Many theories
      1. Revived Roman Empire?
    2. Stone
      1. At the end of days, Jesus will set up his kingdom that will never be destroyed
